The Problem

Why?

People have changed; communities have changed; culture has changed and the way in which people live their lives has changed.

How?

The advent of female emancipation has played a large contribution to a different way in which women in particular and men view relationships and the way in which they wish to live their lives. Changing lifestyles and relaxation of cultural values have also played a large part in the change.

The West

As recent as only the 1930’s and 1940’s marriages and relationships were formed in an arranged fashion with chaparones even in countries such as the United kingdom. Gradually, emancipation of responsibilities and values lead to dating before marriage and then eventually people losing all track of why they were dating in the first place!

The East

In the East as recent as only the 1940’s and 1950’s, marriages were arranged by women called ‘Dhais’ who were effectively midwives and knew most people in and around the villages and then helped to introduce suitable partners to the respective families place!

East Meets West

This then changed when people moved to the West from 1960’s onwards and followed a generation of fiancés and partners being formed and formulated mostly between relatives from the East.

Immigration and progression of attitude in the next generations have now lead to most people wishing to marry from the same country.

Relaxation of different values such as acceptation of homosexuality in long term relationships and the many different values and religions which leads to the making of the multicultural and multi religious society we live in today, has made it even more difficult to locate the persons who believe in the same values and cultures to lead to a long term and meaningful relationship.

People are also getting married later in life than they used to, due to wanting to complete their education and ensuring they have stabilised their careers before they embark on the next stage of their life.

Also let’s face it, people simply are not willing to put up with a lifestyle for the sake of it like most of the last generation did.

The concept of extended family living together has decreased due to lack of space and people wanting to lead independent lives. Therefore, it is no longer possible for the partners to let the years pass by being busy with extended family members until it is too late to change their lifestyle. Now the full focus is on your partner. So for a lasting relationship it is most important that they are your partner in every respect of the word.

So how is that going to happen when the persons concerned are so busy in their lives working that the only time they have for socialising will be when they go out with their friends (male or female) and no person from the opposite sex will dare to approach or be serious about approaching?

When they cannot meet new people because people will not be serious about marriage or even a relationship if they meet them from socialising venues like nightclubs, pubs, now even shisha places?

So how is this new generation supposed to meet people they hope to click with and be serious about?
